As a proud survivor of Head and Neck cancer, I will be participating in the Capital Classic Mountain Bike event to help raise awareness and funds to support the amazing work of the Head and Neck Council Australia.

Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) is one of the least supported cancers in Australia. Most people in Australia know very little about it and there are no public education campaigns to help raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of Head and Neck Cancers.

Sadly, over 5,100 Australians are newly diagnosed every year and more than 17,000 people are living with Head and Neck Cancer today. There is an alarming increase in tonsil and base of tongue cancers seen in people aged 40s and 50s, who are otherwise healthy. I too, was one of these people.

As a survivor of advanced base of tongue cancer, I am grateful to have the opportunity to support others like myself. Only with the support of my family, friends, colleagues, amazing health care team and support services like HNCA, am I able to give back and raise awareness of this very important cause.

So please support Head and Neck Cancer Australia and donate. I will be riding for all of the people and families who continue to fight and live with Head and Neck Cancer, for those that have survived and for all those who have tragically lost their lives to this disease.

Your donation will go directly towards providing free information and support to people living with Head and Neck Cancer and raising awareness across Australia.

Thank you!
